The People of St. Luke's
Pastor Douglas Todak -- Rev. Doug Todak completed his Master's of Divinity degree at Wesley Theological Seminary this year. A native of Ohio, he has been in the Washington metro area for the past eight years. He holds a Master's degree in education from Michigan State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. He was a teacher and worked as an analyst at the Department of Energy. Rev. Todak is a lifelong United Methodist and social activist. He has extensive church leadership experience including preaching, teaching at Leadership Days, hospital chaplaincy, chairing evangelism, leading youth confirmation, pastoral internships, and facilitating Disciple Bible Study. His wife of four years, Rachel Watkins, is professor of Anthropology at American University, and they have a daughter, Ithemba. Rev. Todak is grateful for the opportunity to share his faith in Jesus Christ and to serve and grow spiritually with St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Director of Programs & Administration Shalom Mulkey -- Shalom joined St. Luke's in June 2003 after working at N Street Village, where she has held the positions of Business Manager and Executive Assistant. She also currently serves as Local Program Coordinator for Mennonite Voluntary Service. Shalom has a B.A. in Communication Studies from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. Director of Music Ministries Adam Graham – Adam recently relocated to the District of Columbia and joined the staff of St. Luke's on the 18th of November 2007. Adam is currently enrolled at Prince George’s Community College with his focus being music education. Prior to St. Luke's, Adam has held positions as music director, organist, handbell director, and accompanist for several churches in Maryland & Washington DC area with his most recent being in Annapolis. In addition to his duties at St. Luke's, Adam teaches private piano lessons, and directs a choir that is recognized for being a non-profit organization that performs several concerts each year. Adam also has a passion for performing as an organist, pianist, vocalist (bass) and bassoonist, and is dedicated to spreading his knowledge of the instrument to those around him. Custodian Redmon Barber -- Redmon became a member of St. Luke's staff in September 1997 as Church Custodian. Redmon makes certain our Church building is always spotless and he also keeps the garden trimmed and tidy. His ready smile and pleasant manner add to the warmth of St. Luke's Church.
Communications and Programs Fellow Johanna Hatch – Johanna relocated to Washington and joined the staff of St. Luke's in 2007 after six years working and studying in Minnesota. She is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict (B.A. in Peace Studies) and served with the St. Joseph Worker volunteer program in Minneapolis/St. Paul for a year after graduation. Johanna is also a full-time student at the Washington Theological Union, pursuing a Master of Arts in Theology (Spirituality Studies). Contact Johanna at office@saintlukesmethodist.org.
